We’re much more than
just an Internet store. Noel Leeming has a chain of
appliance stores throughout New Zealand. Learn more
about who we are and where we’ve come from.
About Noel Leeming
Noel Leeming takes its name from its founder, Mr
Noel Leeming, who started the company as ‘Noel
Leeming Television’ in 1973 initially only to
service televisions and other home appliances. The
first retail store opened in Christchurch’s
Barrington Park Mall in December 1973, and expanded
into a retail chain throughout the South Island.
The first North Island branch was established in
Auckland in 1986. Between 1986 and 1993 Noel Leeming
expanded into many North Island cities. Mr Noel
Leeming retired as Managing Director in mid 1992.
Noel Leeming merged with Bond and Bond in September
1996 and the company Pacific Retail Group was
formed. The merger saw New Zealand’s two largest
appliance retailers combine, bringing the total
number of Noel Leeming and Bond and Bond branches
throughout the country to approximately 90.
Noel Leeming has some of the biggest stores in the
business, with a huge range on display to see, try
and compare brands, models and prices for top
quality home appliances.
In August 2004, Gresham Private Equity purchased
Noel Leeming and Bond and Bond. At this time a new
company, Noel Leeming Group, was created. This
company presently consists of Noel Leeming and Bond
and Bond. |
